Evelyn began her study of Ballet at the age of 7 with Candee Backus at a private school in her hometown of Richmond Hill, Ontario. She completed Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson University) Dance Program, obtaining advanced/teaching credentials in both the RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern and National methods. Evelyn toured and danced with the critically acclaimed Les Ballets-Jazz de Montréal (bjm danse) after which she performed in numerous CBC television and stage productions as a freelance artist in Toronto.
In 1986 (to 2024) Evelyn founded The Bracebridge School of Ballet and concurrently studied for The Enrico Cecchetti Final Diploma and Fellowship exams at the National Ballet School in Toronto. Many of Evelyn's students have established professional dance careers across the continent.
Her second term as the Secretary for The Cecchetti Society of Canada's Ontario Branch ended, where she had the honour of organizing workshops and Cecchetti National Summer Conferences at The National Ballet School. A published author, Evelyn is presently following her passion for historical dance research to trace the lineage of ballet greats for the book 'Cecchetti Pioneers' volume 2 by Sheila Kennedy. Evelyn was Artistic Director of a thriving studio for 38 years and holds RAD, CDTA and Cecchetti Society active memberships.
Now retired from studio ownership, Evelyn has more time to enjoy guest teaching and choreographic engagements as well as studying for her 500 hour yoga teacher training certificate.
